Eagles Soar Past Kings 5-2

A pair of Surrey Eagle goals inside the opening three minutes helped propel the visitors to a 5-2 win over the Kings on Saturday night at the Hap Parker Arena.

The Kings started the game immediately on the back foot with the Eagles scoring on the opening shift through John Wesley, his league-leading 24th of the season and a 1-0 lead just 1:05 in. The Eagles weren’t done as they doubled the lead 1:31 later through Chase Danol’s 5th and a 2-0 lead.

Late in the first, the Eagles added a third on the powerplay through Ryan Brushett before Powell River got on the board themselves. The Kings went to a powerplay off the ensuring faceoff from the Eagles 3-0 goal and Jonny Evans scoring his 6th of the year on a cross-seam pass from Ben Berard and a 3-1 scoreline.

Into the 2nd and more from Surrey, this time getting a home town bounce off the seam in the boards by the zamboni entrance. Desi Burgart gifted his 11th of the year and a 4-1 lead. The Kings got that back through a nice power move to net from Ben Berard for his 15th and a 4-2 scoreline through 40.

Surrey would add one in the third courtesy Wesley’s 25th of the year and a 5-2 win. Matteo Paler-Chow takes the loss in net, stopping 20 shots as the Kings fall to 17-7-2-2.
