Kings drop one-sided game two in Victoria 4-0

The Powell River Kings may have taken home-ice advantage away from the Victoria Grizzlies with their game one win, but they couldn’t steal both games in Victoria as they dropped game two 4-0.

Victoria didn’t waste any time getting on the scoreboard, just 1:34 into the game Nico Somerville fired a wrist shot from the left point that went off the tip of Brian Wilson’s glove and in for his first career goal.

The shots after the first period were 13-10 in favour of the Kings, but it was Victoria who held the Kings in their own end for extended periods of time.

The Kings ran into some penalty trouble in the second, and late in one of the penalties it cost them. Shawn O’Malley fired a shot on Wilson from the right-wing wall and Tyler Welsh was able to chop the puck over Wilson’s pad with just four seconds left on a too many men call.

The goal spelled the end of the net for WIslon as he was lifted for Mitch Adamyk after giving up two goals on 16 shots.

Cole Pickup would extend Victoria’s lead before the second period was finished, deflecting a shot through the five hole of Adamyk off a Jamie Rome shot.

Despite firing 30 shots on goal the Kings couldn’t solve Galajda as the final score read 4-0. The loss was the first of the playoffs for the Kings, and turned the Division Final into a best of five with game three Monday night in Powell River.
