Paler-Chow, Kings Blank Caps 7-0

Matteo Paler-Chow earned his 2nd shutout in the BCHL, stopping 34 Cowichan shots, while getting plenty of run support in a 7-0 Powell River victory over the Capitals on Friday night at the Hap Parker Arena.

An even start to the first period with both teams trying to cash in on early chances. It was the Kings to break the deadlock through Kevin Obssuth, skating down left wing after getting a Matteo Paler-Chow pass along the board and sniping home his 10th of the season for a 1-0 lead. The Kings continued to press in the period and wound up scoring a second time, through another nice play by Obssuth as he set up Ethan Kimball to the side of the goal for his first of the night and a 2-0 lead through 20. Shots were 12-7 Powell River through the first period.

Into the second and the Kings continued to pour on pressure. Kevin Obssuth notched his 2nd of the game after a loose puck squeezed out from Cowichan goalie Adam Marcoux that Obssuth buried for his 11th of the year and a 3-0 Kings lead.

Cowichan began to push late in the frame and the games second powerplay opportunity for the Caps resulted in a bigger Powell River lead. After a stellar save from Paler-Chow, Andy Stevens quickly got the puck up to Kyle Kawamura who went 2-on-1 with Ethan Kimball. Kawamura went over to Kimball for his 2nd of the game and a 4-0 lead shorthanded. The Kings outshot the Caps 15-12 in the period for a 27-19 advantage through 40.

Through the 3rd, the Kings picked up a trio of goals. First, Ben Berard went bar down, then Nathan Kelly strolled in down left wing before taking a couple of strong strides for an opening and a laser from a tight angle for his 3rd of the season. Then Jonny Evans rounded out the scoring from a similar position to Kelly for a 7-0 outing.

Matteo Paler-Chow stopped 34 shots as the Kings outshot the Caps 39-34 and won 7-0.
