Turnbull Takes Player of the Week

A stellar 7-point weekend over a pair of road wins has propelled Kings forward Carter Turnbull to the BCHL’s Player of the Week award. Kevin Obssuth was also named an honourable mention. Here’s the full release from the BCHL:

Powell River Kings forward Carter Turnbull has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 17, the league announced Monday.

Turnbull racked up three goals and four assists in helping the Kings to a pair of road wins. The Nanaimo native had the winning goal plus three helpers in a 9-1 win in Nanaimo Friday and followed that up with two goals and an assist in a 9-7 win in Cowichan Valley. He was named 2nd Star on both occasions.

The 19-year-old is currently tied with teammate Jonny Evans atop the BCHL scoring list with 10 points in four games. Turnbull is committed to the University of Connecticut for next season.
