The Birch Group and our entire Coaching and Hockey Operations staff would like to take this opportunity to wish all our Powell River Kings players, their families and billets, our volunteers, sponsors, supporters and our fans, a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season. We thank the Society and the Community at large for allowing us to be a small part of the rich history of Junior Hockey here in Powell River.
It is also with great pleasure and excitement that we announce and confirm that the Powell River Kings’ season will in fact continue without interruption. Constant collaboration between the Birch Group and the Powell River Kings Society, since last week’s Town Hall Meeting, has resulted in agreements that will ensure our boys will continue the season without any changes whatsoever to any aspect of the schedule. Our players, advisors and their families have been informed of the news, and we express our sincere thanks to all of them for their patience and faith in what we recognize as a trying experience rooted in the stress of uncertainty. Notably, our Coaches have made it clear from the outset that they would rise or fall first and foremostly with their players; their adhesive efforts do not go unnoticed, and we thank the many parents who have written in to confirm their solidarity. We have a great group of young men here in Powell River and our intention is to ensure the continued development and opportunity necessary to keep our players at home in Powell River, thriving and working toward hockey and educational goals.
Our recent home victory is a clear signal that our boys can compete and excel in the BCHL. It is with great hope and expectation that our team will continue to develop and perform in the upcoming second half of the season. Our record will improve with added support of the community, to be sure. The Society and the notable work of Joe Mastrodonato continue in full force, pursuing the preservation of Powell River’s BCHL hockey tradition well into the future; we call upon all of our fans and supporters in the community to assist in paving the way forward.
On behalf of The Birch Group, we also extend the warmest of Holiday Greetings to each and every ownership group in the BCHL, their players/parents, billets and the volunteers that make their success possible. While we may compete on the ice, we are all completely aligned in our genuine efforts to develop the young men that wear our uniforms, both on and off the ice; for this the Birch Group is thankful for the professionalism that coats the whole BCHL experience and those at the League who make this possible.
