Eagles take game one of doubleheader

Looking to get back into the win column the Kings were back at the Hap to kick off a double header vs the Surrey Eagles Sunday afternoon.

After a scoreless opening period the Eagles would get on the board early in the second period as defenceman Drew Tsakounis took the shot from the high slot and it founds it’s what through a screened Matthias Smith. A few minutes later, the Kings ended up on the power play and made the most of the opportunity as Parker LaLonde fed Max Potvin in the slot like we’ve seen so many times before and Max converted for his 10th of the season, and to tie the game up at one. Later in the period, the Kings would get into some penalty trouble and the Eagles would end up on a 5 on 3 and former King Michael Abgrall got one passed Smith to regain the lead for his team. The Eagles would add 2 more later in the period from Tate Taylor and Buddy Johnson to take a 4-1 lead heading into the 3rd.

Looking to bounce back from a rough middle frame, the Kings would come with energy and found themselves on the power play 5 minutes in and Parker LaLonde sniped his team leading 11th goal going bardown over Eli Pulver from the left circle to get the Kings back within two. Midway through the frame Owen Barrow got the puck in the right corner and from the goal line he put one on net and the puck found its way between Pulver and the post and get his 2nd of the year and to reduce the Eagles lead to one. Sadly that was as close as the Kings would come as the Eagles bared down for the remainder of the 3rd to halt the comeback and escape with a 4-3 win.

The power player would go 2 for 5 on the night with Ethan Riesterer and Parker LoLonde both picking up 2 points for the Kings.

Kings will be back in action on Monday night at the Hap against the same Surrey Eagles at 7pm.
