Adamyk Named BCHL Player of the Week

For the second time in three weeks, a Powell River Kings player has been recognized by the BCHL for his play. This time, goaltender Mitch Adamyk has been named the BCHL Player of the Week.

Adamyk guided the Kings to a pair of wins in three games over the last week, both of them via shutout. First, a 30 stop shutout of the Cowichan Capitals on Tuesday night, then another 30 save performance in a 5-0 win over the Chilliwack Chiefs on Saturday night. Adamyk is 5-0 in his last 5 appearances with a 0.60 GAA and a .980sv%.

Congratulations to Mitch!

Powell River Kings goaltender Mitch Adamyk has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 9, the league announced Monday.

Adamyk earned back-to-back shutouts in his two starts this week, stopping all 51 shots he faced in a pair of Kings wins.

The 19-year-old from East. St. Paul, Man. made 30 saves in a 4-0 shutout victory on the road over the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Wednesday night, then followed it up with a 21-save performance in another away start on Saturday in a 5-0 blanking of the Chilliwack Chiefs.

This was the second time in the last three weeks that Adamyk has recorded back-to-back shutouts and he now leads the league in that category with four. He owns the sixth-best goals-against average in the BCHL at 2.72 and the seventh-highest save percentage at .908. After this weekend, he sees his record improve to 14-5-4.
