The Kings are excited to announce the signing of Air Force committed forward Drew Gibbons.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be joining the Kings for this upcoming season.” says Gibbons “Powell Rivers ability to prepare and develop players at this level to be ready to make an impact at the next level is something that is hard to come by and I couldn’t ask for a better place to do it.”
The 20 year old Wakefield Rhode Island product split last season in the NAHL with the Rochester Jr. Americans and Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks. In 51 combined games he scored 16 goals and collected 16 assists. “Drew will strengthen our forward group in the middle. We really like Drews character and appreciation for the small details.” says Head Coach and G.M. Stephan Seeger Jr. “We are excited for his creative playmaking ability especially on the rush and his hardworking nature. He checks off a lot of boxes as a 20 year old, and we expect him to hit the ground running and be an impact immediately for us.”
Gibbons is entering the season with some familiarity about the community and team as he is a former teammate and good friend of now Kings alumnus Calvin Beard who is set to begin his freshman year at Air Force. “I’ve heard nothing but great things from past teammates who have played for the Kings and I am excited to get started.” he adds “Personally I am most excited to develop my game at a faster level and continue my growth both on and off the ice.”
