Brushett Commits to Nebraska-Omaha

The Powell River Kings are proud to announce that forward Ryan Brushett has committed to the University of Nebraska-Omaha for the 2019/2020 season.

Brushett, 20, is in his first year with the Kings but is a veteran in the BCHL having previously played for both the Surrey Eagles and Vernon Vipers. He currently leads the Kings in scoring with 12 goals and 15 assists through 19 games.

“I’ve been talking with Nebraska for a while, they made a really good offer and I’m really excited about going there next year,” said Brushett. “They’re a really good school and a good team, it’s a good fit for me with the program and the coaching staff and it just feels like a good fit for me.”

Brushett hasn’t decided completely on a path of study, however is leaning towards a business degree. He also becomes the third King in recent history to attend the school, with both Luke Nogard and Brian Rideout playing for the Mavericks after Junior.

The Kings would like to congratulate Ryan on securing an NCAA scholarship for next season.
