Derek Krall earns BCHL Week 10 Player of the Week

Powell River, BC – The BCHL announced Tuesday that Powell River Kings ’99 born goaltender Derek Krall has been named the Week 10 Subway Player of the Week.

Krall, 20, went 2-0, allowing one goal on 58 shots – good for a 0.50 GAA / .983 SV% in his two starts. The Nanaimo, BC native made 29-saves on 30-shots in a 2-1 win on Friday over West Kelowna, and recorded his first career shutout in a 2-0 win against the Coquitlam Express on Sunday.

“I credit my teammates,” said Krall. “They really helped me get that first shutout, and now I want to build off of it. I was a special game, as your dream as a goalie is to get a shutout, but it’s awesome to have my teammates so happy.”

The uncommitted goaltender was acquired by the Kings on October 25th, and has since posted a 2.68 GAA / .915 SV% in six starts.

Krall has now won BCHL Player of the Week twice in his career. He last won it on February 18th, 2018 when he made three starts for Powell River and earned the win in each of them.

The Powell River Kings are back in action this Friday (November 15th) against the Trail Smoke Eaters at 7:00 p.m., inside the Hap Parker Arena.
