Dogs over the Kings 5-4

The Alberni Bulldogs perservered in game three of this series and eked out a 5-4 win over the Kings.

Dogs led all the way in this game and it seemed like every time the Kings caught up, the Bulldogs found a way to regain the lead.

Special team teams too, played a major role as the two teams combined for a whopping seven goals in 12 opportunities.

Ben Schmidts return to the lineup will certainly help the Kings in the penalty killing department and he will dress for the Kings on Tuesday night.

Alberni scored the only goal of the first period but the Kings replied with Carr's first to start the second.

Alberni answered less than a minute later then Carr got his second at 8:20 to tie 2-2.

Alberni picked up the next two goals at 12:13 and 12:32 and the 4-2 score held up until the end of the second period.

Daniel Carr got his third goal of the night at 0:18 seconds of the third period and then Jordan Grant one timed a great pass from Chad Niddery to knot the game at 4-4 at 11:03.

Alberni had an answer for every Kings' goal tonight and on the powerplay, first star of the game, David Dziurzynski picked up his second of the night and the eventual winnng goal at 14:06.

Kings outshot the Bulldogs 40-24 but couldn't get enough pucks by netminder Frank Slubowski who was solid in the Dogs net.

“We were too amped up and too helter skelter on the bench and on the ice,” said Kent Lewis after the game.

“We were running around out there like a bunch of chickens with our head cut off,” he said, “and what's been a good penalty kill all year was not so good tonight.”

“We'll have to fix that.”

Another one goal game and no reason to think that tomorrow won't be as close.
