Garteig Commits to Quinnipiac

Powell River, BC ? January 4, 2011The Kings are proud to announce that goaltender Michael Garteig has committed to attend  NCAA?s University of Quinnipiac in Hamden, Connecticut for the 2011-2012 season.

Hailing from Prince George, Garteig joined the Kings during the 2009-2010 season and has been a key component of the roster since day one.  This year Mike has had a huge impact on both the conference and league standings as he currently is staked as the top goaltender in the BCHL with  24 wins which includes a GAA of 1.15 and an incredible SV of 93.7%.

Kings' head coach and general manager Kent Lewis is absolutely thrilled noting, “We are very excited for Mike to attend Quinnipiac.  Mike has shown he is an elite goaltender in the BCHL.  We feel Mike will be a great addition to the university both on the ice and around the campus.”

Garteig chose Quinnipiac as a result of its highly established hockey program and for being an institution that is recognized for its strong academics.  He will be joining former Kings Darcy Oakes and Clay Harvey as a Bobcat.

Congratulations Mike on this great achievement!
