Glasman Earns League Mention

Congratulations to Kings forward Levi Glasman, for earning an Honourable Mention for the BCHL Player of the Week award, won by Chilliwack netminder Daniel Chenard.

Glasman led scoring for the Kings/Clippers series with 6 goals and 3 assists in the 5 games, and currently sits in a share of 2nd place in overall BCHL playoff scoring. Glasman also scored the overtime game winning goal in game 4, that allowed Powell River the opportunity to eliminate Nanaimo on home ice two nights later.

Here’s the full release from the BCHL:

Chilliwack Chiefs netminder Daniel Chenard was named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 10, the league announced Monday.

The 19-year-old stopped 147 of 156 shots last week, posting a .942 save percentage and a 1.99 goals-against average, leading the Chiefs to a dramatic Game 7 win after going down 3-0 in their first-round series against the Langley Rivermen.

Chenard had a tough start to the week as he was pulled after letting in three goals in the first period in a 5-0 loss to the Rivermen on Monday night to put his team down 3-0 in the series. He bounced back in a big way after that, starting with Game 4 the following night where he made 38 saves in a 2-1 win in Langley and was named the game’s first star. He put together another solid performance in Game 5 at home, stopping 26 of 27 shots and earning second-star honours in another 2-1 win. Game 6 back in Langley went to overtime where Chenard shut the door, making 36 saves in total and was named third star while backstopping Chilliwack to a 3-2 win in extra time and forcing a seventh and deciding game. Back home for Game 7, the Chiefs were outshot badly 45-21, but it was Chenard again who denied the Rivermen, making 43 saves and was named first star as Chilliwack completed the comeback with a 3-2 win.

Heading into a second-round series with the Prince George Spruce Kings, the Waterloo, Ont. native has a 4-3 record, a .926 save percentage and a 2.39 goals-against average.
