Glasman Plays Hero as Kings Level Series

Levi Glasman notched his league-leading 9th goal of the playoffs and his second overtime game winning goal as the Powell River Kings rallied from a 2-1 deficit late in the third period to win game 4 in overtime and square their series against Victoria at 2 games each.

The Kings opened the scoring midway through the first period as Ben Berard cashed in front of the goal for his 4th of the playoffs to make it 1-0. The lead was shortlived as on the next shift the Kings went to the penalty box, and on the ensuing faceoff, Riley Hughes got one past Mitch Adamyk for his 1st of the playoffs and a 1-1 score.

It stayed that way until late in the period when Marty Westhaver cut in and put a puck on net that squeezed through Adamyk, dribbing over the line for Westhaver’s 5th on the season and a 2-1 Victoria lead after 20. Shots 14-10 Powell River.

No scoring in the second period despite shots favourite Victoria 13-7. The score stayed 2-1 until late in the third period with wave after wave of Powell River attack finally causing the dam of break. Ryan Brushett deflecting home his 2nd of the playoffs on a Ryan Pouliot shot from the centre blue line and a 2-2 score that held up through regulation.

Both teams generated chances in the overtime, but the clear cut ones belonged to Powell River. After Matthew Byrne backchecked and caused chaos in neutral ice, Mitch Williams picked up a puck and skated in down the right wing, looping behind the goal and centering for Levi Glasman to tap in his 2nd OT GWG of the playoffs, and league leading 9th goal of the post season for a 3-2 Kings win and a 2-2 series heading into game 5 on Friday night in Victoria.

The Kings and Grizzlies are now idle until Friday with game 5 at the Q Centre at 7:00pm. Game 6 returns to Powell River on Saturday, a 7:00pm start. Tickets go on sale beginning at Noon on Wednesday March 20th.
