The Powell River Kings have acquired defenceman Hunter Heisten from the Cowichan Valley Capitals in exchange for future considerations.
Heisten, a 19-year-old (turns 20 on July 31) right-shot defenceman from Anchorage, Alaska, brings established BCHL experience and a steadily developing two-way game. Listed at 6’2”, 180 lbs, he spent the bulk of the 2025-26 season with Cowichan after beginning the year with the Surrey Eagles.
This past season Heisten appeared in 25 games with the Capitals, recording 2 goals and 8 assists for 10 points along with 20 penalty minutes. He also played 6 games with Surrey (0 points). In 2024-25 he logged a full season with the Eagles, posting 8 assists in 34 regular-season games and adding an assist in 5 playoff contests.
Prior to junior, Heisten was a standout with the Sioux Falls Power program. In 2023-24 he helped the Power capture the T1EHL 18U championship while putting up strong production at the 18U AAA level. He was selected by the Chicago Steel in the 2023 USHL Entry Draft (18th round, 272nd overall).
