The Powell River Kings have acquired 2004 born defenseman Zach Rizzo from the Chilliwack Chiefs in exchange for future considerations.
Hailing from Atlanta Georgia, Rizzo is in the midst of his first BCHL season. In 16 games for the Chiefs he has one goal and one assist. Although his offensive numbers aren’t high, Rizzo wasn’t brought in to score goals, but to help contribute defensively and keep the puck out of the net. “We wanted to add to our defensive group to be harder the play against,” says G.M. Chad van Diemen “Zach plays a heavy physical game and that’s something we were looking to add. We want to lower our overall goals against and we feel Zach is someone who can come in and immediately help with that.”
Rizzo is expected to make his Kings debut this weekend on the road trip when they visit Coquitlam Friday and Chilliwack on Saturday.
