The Powell River Kings have almost 100 former players currently plying their trade at the collegiate or pro levels. Today, we look at some of the notable stories and trends from the previous set of games, highlighting former Powell River King players.
American Hockey League
– Daniel Carr has been named the AHL Player of the Month for February. Carr recorded a point in each of his eleven games during the month, finishing with eight-goals and nine-assists.
• (February 24th) Ryan Scarfo tallies a goal and assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-1 win over the Rockford IceHogs. Scarfo was named the game’s 2nd Star for his efforts.
• (February 24th) Daniel Carr picks up a goal and two assists for the Chicago Wolves in a 4-2 win over the Texas Stars.
• (February 26th) Daniel Carr assists on the game’s lone goal in a 1-0 Chicago win over Rockford.
• (March 1st) Daniel Carr scores the overtime winner in a 2-1 win over the Texas Stars.
ECHL
• (February 24th) Braeden Ostepchuk is loaned by SPHL’s Evansville Thunderbolts to the Cincinnati
• (February 24th) Jon Jutzi tallies an assist for the Maine Mariners in a 4-3 shootout win over the Worcester Railers.
• (March 1st) Jamie Phillips stops 21/28 for the Florida Everblades in a 7-2 loss to the Orlando Solar Bears.
• (March 2nd) Luke Nogard records a goal and assist for the Norfolk Admirals in a 5-2 loss to Brayden Low and the Reading Royals. Low assisted on the game-winner for the Royals.
• (March 2nd) Jon Jutzi tallies an assist for the Maine Mariners in a 4-3 OT loss to the Utah Grizzlies.
• (March 5th) Michael Garteig stops 31/34 in a 5-3 Newfoundland win over Brayden Low and the Reading Royals.
• (March 8th) Jamie Phillips is reassigned by the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL to the Reading Royals. This season in 30 games with the Florida Everblades, Phillips has a record of 19-9 with a .903sv% a 2.59GAA and one shutout.
• (March 8th) Michael Garteig stops 24/25 in a 5-1 Newfoundland win over the Orlando Solar Bears.
• (March 8th) Jon Jutzi sets up the game-winner for the Maine Mariners in a 4-1 win over the South Carolina Stingrays.
• (March 9th) Jon Jutzi assists on Maine’s lone goal in a 2-1 OT loss to South Carolina.
• (March 10th) Luke Nogard tallies an assist for the Norfolk Admirals in a 3-2 loss to the Manchester Monarchs.
• (March 10th) Michael Garteig stops 18/21 in a 4-3 shootout loss to Orlando.

• (March 8th) Gavin Rauser records three assists for the VIU Mariners in a 6-1 win over Cole Arcuri and Selkirk College. Former affiliate Garrett Dunlop was named the game’s 1st Star after recording two goals and an assist for the Mariners.
