Kings Cap Off Weekend with Win

BURNABY (April 4th, 2021) – The Powell River Kings were able to finish the first weekend of the 2020-21 season on a high note, with a 5-2 win over the Surrey Eagles at Scotia Barn in Burnaby on Sunday afternoon.

The Kings opened the scoring in quick succession with Josh Kagan scoring a power play goal 1:33 into the game. Ben Raymond made it a 2-0 game for the Kings just under two minutes later with his first junior hockey goal.

In the second period, the Kings doubled their lead with Branden Toye scoring his first and second BCHL goals. Owen Barrow got assists on both goals, which gave the Kings a 4-0 lead through 40 minutes.

The Eagles were able to get past Kings goaltender Thomas Wardle with a pair of goals from Tio D’Addario and Tyson McLean late in the third period, but an empty net goal from Josh Kagan with 2:22 remaining put the game away.
