Kings end month of April with win over Express

BURNABY (April 30, 2021) – The Powell River Kings closed out the month of April with a 3-2 win over the Coquitlam Express on Friday night.

With the victory, the Kings snapped a two-game losing streak while the Express have had eight game without a win.

Jakob Drapeau made 29 saves for his third win of the season, while Jaden Little put aside 23 shots for Coquitlam.

Brody Johnston’s first BCHL got got the Kings ahead 3:10 into the hockey game. Christian MacDougall answered for the Express 16:59 with an assist credited to Will Dow-Kenny.

The Kings got the lead back late in the middle frame with Caleb Parkhouse setting up Owen Barrow’s second of the year.

Tyden McWillis scored the eventual game-winning goal with a wraparound 1:55 into the third period, his fourth. Express captain Danny Pearson pulled his team within one four minutes later, but that was as close as Coquitlam would get.

The Kings have a quick turnaround this weekend, they play Saturday afternoon against the Surrey Eagles. Puck drop is at 1pm.
