Kings make deal with Winnipeg Freeze

The Powell River Kings have acquired 04′ forward Ryder Ringor from the Winnipeg Freeze of the MJHL via trade in exchange for 02′ defenseman Matthew Yakubowski.

Ringor is coming off an impressive rookie season with the Freeze as a 17 year old where he lead the team in scoring with 13 goals and 22 assists and was the co rookie of the year with his twin brother Rylan. “Ryder is creative with the puck and can make plays at a high pace” says G.M. Chad Van Diemen “We look forward to having Ryder join our team at training camp in early September.”

After the signings of Will Jones and Caleb Bentham the Kings had a total of 9 defenseman slated on the roster for next season and Chad knew that he would have to move a d-man.  “With a few additions on our back end we needed to move a defenseman to add to our forward group. It’s not easy to move a great person and teammate in Matthew. We’d like to thank Matt for his contributions to our team last season”

Yakubowski who was acquired from the Freeze at the trade deadline in January collected 2 assists in his 22 games with the Kings.
