Powell River, BC – The Cowichan Valley Capitals (10-4-1) defeated the Powell River Kings (7-8) 6-3 on Saturday night at the Hap Parker Arena.

The Kings drop their fifth straight game, and finish week six of the BCHL season 0-2 after back-to-back losses this weekend.

Matthew Crasa’s hat-trick led the Capitals to victory, scoring the opening goal, and Cowichan’s fourth goal for the eventual game winner.

The Kings tied the game twice, but were unable to take the lead. Levi Glasman scored on the power-play to tie it up at two in the second, but that only lasted for just over a minute as Crasa scored on a rebound in front for a 3-2 Capitals lead.

The Capitals tie the season series 1-1, with these two teams meeting again on November 1st in Duncan.

Hunter McCoy finished a bang-bang play in the slot to bring the Kings within a goal early in the third. Tanner Sidaway scored over five minutes later, as the Capitals regained the two goal lead.

The Capitals improve to an Island Division best 10-4-1, and 21 points, which is six points ahead of the Kings who currently sit third in the division just three points behind the second place Nanaimo Clippers.

The Powell River Kings are back in action on the road, Friday October 18th at 7:00 p.m., against the Surrey Eagles. The Kings are back at home on Thursday October 24th as they host the Prince George Spruce Kings.
