Kings make it a four point weekend

The power went out in Powell River last night which delayed this report but there was certainly no outage in the Kings' lineup versus the Caps.

Kings completed a perfect weekend with a 4-1 win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Saturday night.

Caps were still stinging from a rough one with the Spruce Kings and in addition to coach Dale Purinton, had a couple of players suspended for the game against Powell River.

They did manage to add former Kelowna Rocket, Tyler Mathewson to the lineup but he and the rest of the Caps were ineffective against the high flying Kings.

A strong forecheck, a ton of rubber and timely goaltending (always a great recipe for success) earned the Kings a convincing win to complete a perfect weekend.

Kings poured 46 shots onto the Caps net but really, if not for Peck the score could have been much higher.

Leading the charge with three assists was Chad Niddery, who gets a real kick out of drawing the attention away from his teammates so he can set them up for the kill.

“That's something I don't usually do,” he laughed when asked about Adair's goal, the Kings' fourth.

“Puck just bounced right on a few little moves and I tried making it pretty by going in but Adair just popped her in and I was just like “yes!!, he pumped.

“I'd rather go around a bunch of guys – undress a goalie if I can and give a guy an open net,” he said of his six assists on the weekend, “I'd rather have that than all the credit.”

Receiving credit for goals against the Caps were blueline sniper Craig Dalrymple, along with Garbowsky, Renner and Adair.

All in all a great weekend for the Kings and Niddery said, “four for four and we came in this weekend pretty amped up to play at home after those three away game where we were just around 500 so we needed a big weekend and got it done.”
