On Friday, October 30, the Powell River Kings will retire Jack Long’s number 22 in a pre-game ceremony at Hap Parker Arena.
This is more than a jersey going into the rafters. It’s a full-circle moment for a local product who came through the Powell River minor hockey system, captained the Kings, and played more games than anyone in franchise history (281). Jack still wears the “C” today as captain of the Powell River Regals — a living reminder of what loyalty and quiet leadership look like in this community.
His number will join the only two previously retired jerseys in team history: #5 Brad Bombardir and #19 Heath Dennison. Only three numbers will hang in Hap Parker Arena. That exclusivity matters.
October 30 is the Kings’ only home game of the month. It deserves to be full. This is a night for the community to stand up and honour one of its own — and for a competitive, community-driven Kings organization to celebrate the values that define us.
