Kings Shutout in Alberni, 4-0

The Powell River Kings offence has been blanked for the first time this season, falling 4-0 in Alberni against the Bulldogs.

A fast start to the game saw the Kings get the first chance on goal, but then Alberni pile on the next 12 shots which included the 1-0 goal. It was a lead that stood up through 20 minutes with shots ending up 13-6 after 20.

The second period saw Powell River begin on a powerplay carrying over from the opening period, but the Bulldogs took the initiative with Isaac Tonkin-Palmer cashing in on a shorthanded breakaway for a 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs added one more midway through the period for a 3-0 advantage, with the game getting a little chippy late in the period  and boiling over with a large scrum at centre following an altercation between Christian Buono and Keaton Mastrodonato that multiple penalties as the Kings finishing the 2nd period on the powerplay.

Powell River piled on pressure in the third period, outshooting Alberni 17-5 but weren’t able to beat goaltender John Hawthorne as he helped steer Alberni to a 4-0 victory.

Brock Sawyer joins Alex Rawnsley to talk about tonight's 4-0 loss in Alberni.
