Kings shutout twice over the weekend

Powell River, BC – The Powell River Kings begin a five game home stand this week after back-to-back shutout losses over the weekend.

The Kings lost 4-0 on Saturday to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs before losing 3-0 on Sunday afternoon to the Island Division leading Nanaimo Clippers.

On Sunday afternoon, the Clippers received a two goal performance from captain Ethan Scardina and a 36-save shutout from Jordan Naylor. The Kings have yet to score a goal against the Clippers in the season series, being outscored 12-0 during that time.

On Saturday, Luke Pearson made 26-saves for his second shutout this season (eighth of his career), while getting goals from Dawson Tritt,  Austin Spiridakis, Ryan Doolin and Tommy Bannister. For the Kings, they did get a solid debut from goaltender Thomas Wardle who made a team season high 40-saves on 44 shots in the loss.

The Kings were outshot 82-62 over the weekend, while going 0-10 on their power play and 7-10 on the penalty kill. Powell River has now been shutout five times this season after only being shutout twice last year.

The Powell River Kings begin their five game home stand this Friday, November 8th at 7:00 p.m., against the West Kelowna Warriors.
