When the Powell River Kings Hockey Club Society was formed in 1997, the Powell River Kings had already been in existence for 10 years. The team was previously owned by a company that comprised of several local businessmen.
Since 1997, the Kings have been owned and operated through a registered non-profit society in which the owners of the team in any given year are the members of the society during that year. The society runs the team through a board of directors elected from the society membership. The board of directors hire the team staff to manage the day to day operations of the hockey club. The team also has numerous volunteer staff to complete their needs.
The Powell River Kings are a symbol of our community’s vigor and success. Our ability to sustain a Junior A hockey franchise strengthens the morale of the community and sends a message to other communities that Powell River is alive and well. Annual Kings Society Memberships range from $50 to $500, depending on your level of commitment.
