Kings to open new campaign at home vs Grizzlies

Today the BCHL unveiled the schedule for the 2024-25 regular season. The Kings will open the 54 game campaign on home ice with a double header against the Victoria Grizzlies on September 20th & 21st.

It will be a home heavy first half of the season for the Kings with 17 of 26 home games taking place before the end of December. Fans will see the Coastal West foes from the Island at Hap a minimum of three times and the teams in the Coastal East Division (Surrey, Coquitlam, Langley, Chilliwack, and Prince George) twice, however the reigning Fred Page Cup Champion Surrey Eagles will only make one visit to Hap on Tuesday November 5th. The Prince George Spruce Kings will make their first appearance at the Hap in 5 years with a double header at the end of October. Interior teams who will make stops in Powell River will be the Cranbrook Bucks (Oct 12), Vernon Vipers (Nov 30), and Penticton Vees (Dec 1).

The five new teams from Alberta will be fully integrated into the BCHL for the upcoming year, but Kings fans will have to wait until the 2025-26 season to see them as the Kings will not play an Alberta team home or away this season barring a matchup in the Fred Page Cup Finals. The Kings will only face Interior West opponents (Penticton, Trail, Salmon Arm, Vernon, and West Kelowna) with the exception of the Cranbrook Bucks who are in the newly formed Interior East Division alongside the five Alberta teams.

The home portion of the schedule will wrap up March 21st & 22nd against the Cowichan Valley Capitals which are the only two home games that month. The regular season will end March 29th & 30th with two games in Prince George. Still to be announced are the two games at the BCHL Showcase which are slated for October.
