Kyle Bodie Rookie of the Week

Two honored and Dutchmen move in men's hockey national poll

 

ALBANY, NY ? On the same day that the Union College men?s ice hockey team moved to 16th in the USCHO.com poll, senior forward Mario Valery-Trabucco and freshman forward Kyle Bodie were recognized for their stellar play during the Dutchmen?s sweep of their North Country foes. Trabucco was dubbed Player of the Week for third time this season, while Bodie was named Rookie of the Week for the first time.

 

The Dutchmen, who moved from 20th spot of the USCHO.com poll, claimed a 11-2 victory against Clarkson on Friday, setting a school record for goals in a game. They followed with a 4-2 win against St. Lawrence on Saturday, moving them into a three-way tie for first place in ECAC Hockey with Cornell and Yale.

 

Trabucco led Union?s charge this past weekend with four goals and three assists. Against the Golden Knight?s he registered his second career hat trick and posted a career-best five points. He followed with an assist on Union?s first goal against the Saints and then potted the game-tying goal. For the season, Trabucco leads the team with 35 points ? only four away from setting the school record for points in a season.

 

Bodie also registered a career-high during Friday?s game. He netted his second career goal and added a career-high three assists. For the weekend, he posted a plus-five rating. This season, Bodie has two goals and six assists in 17 games.

 

Union hits the road for a pair of 7 p.m. games this weekend. The Dutchmen go to Dartmouth on Friday, Feb. 12 and to Harvard on Saturday, Feb. 13.
