Maguire Inks Contract with Penguins

Former Powell River Kings goaltender Sean Maguire has inked his first professional contact with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Maguire was drafted in the 4th round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Penguins ahead of his first year at Boston University. The Powell River netminder spent two years in the crease for the Kings, going 27-15-1 with a 2.39 GAA and .910 save percentage. Maguire lost a season with concussion symptoms during his collegiate career at Boston University, but still posted a 29-29-1 record, accompanying a 2.58 GAA and .922 save percentage with the Terriers, however his 13-9-1 record this pas season with a 2.41 goals-against average, a .920 save percentage and two shutouts earned him wide recognition including in the annual Beanpot Tournament.

The contact with the Pens is an NHL standard entry level agreement for two years and will kick in next season. For the remainder of this year, Maguire will join the team’s AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on an amateur try-out.

The Kings would like to congratulate Sean on his contract with the Penguins.
