Kings commit to forward Mark D’Agostino for 2021-22 BCHL season

POWELL RIVER (June 16, 2021) – The Powell River Kings announced Wednesday the commitment of forward Mark D’Agostino for the upcoming BCHL season.

A six-foot forward from North Branford, Conn., D’Agostino recently played for the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks in the North American Hockey League (NAHL). During the 2020-21 season, D’Agostino played in 45 games and put up 16 goals and 12 assists and finished second on his team in goals scored and fourth in points scored.

D’Agostino was rewarded for his efforts with the Jr. Hat Tricks as he was named NAHL East Division Star of the Week for the week of October 12. Additionally, D’Agostino is committed to the University of Connecticut (UCONN) hockey program.

“This will be an awesome opportunity. The coaches at UCONN could not say enough about the staff and development with the Kings and helped me get in contact with the team. I am excited to get out to Powell River for the season,” D’Agostino said.

D’Agostino played four seasons of high school hockey with Frederick Gunn School, formerly known as The Gunnery, where he finished with 51 goals and 70 assists in 129 games. He capped off his tenure as a Highlander in 2019-20 recording 23 goals and 55 points in 35 games and captured a New England high school championship.

“Mark is a versatile forward who can play in all situations and has a good nose for the net.  We are excited that he chose to play in Powell River for his final season of junior before he heads off to UCONN. We look forward to working with him to help him develop on and off the ice so he is ready to step in and contribute when he gets to college,” Kings general manager Chad van Diemen said.

The Kings will open the 2021-22 season at Hap Parker Arena when the club welcomes the Nanaimo Clippers for a pair of games on Friday, October 8 and Saturday, October 9. Further details about the upcoming season will be released throughout the summer.
