PJ Garrett commits to Colgate University

Powell River, BC – Powell River Kings ’00 defenceman PJ Garrett has committed to NCAA-D1 Colgate University.

“They’ve been looking at me since I was playing prep-school hockey back in New England, but it got more serious at the beginning of the year when they came and watched a couple games,” said Garrett. “It started rolling there, and I came to a decision this weekend. I knew Colgate is a place I really want to go to.”

Garrett, 19, has totaled three goals, eight assists and 11 points through 39 games this season. The Duxbury, MA native has accumulated two multi-point games this season, and goals against Alberni Valley, Salmon Arm and Vernon.

He later added that their coaching staff sold him on the program at Colgate.

“The coaching staff there is unbelievable. Coach Don Vaughn runs a great program. They have unbelievable facilities and the school itself is very highly regarded education wise . I just knew I really wanted to go there.”

Garrett will join current Kings forward Levi Glasman at Colage university either in the 2020-21 or 2021-22 season. He previously played at Phillips Exeter Academy and Thayer Academy.
