Powell River Kings Sign Forward Isaiah Shantz

The Powell River Kings are pleased to announce the signing of forward Isaiah Shantz for the 2026-27 British Columbia Hockey League season.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound left-shot left winger from Hawkesville, Ontario, brings a combination of size, skill, and high-level junior experience to the Kings’ forward group. Born January 15, 2006, the 20-year-old arrives in Powell River after a strong 2025-26 campaign with the Trenton Golden Hawks of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, where he recorded 20 goals and 22 assists for 42 points in 44 regular-season games, adding eight more points (3G-5A) in 10 playoff contests.

Shantz has previous experience in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, appearing in 21 games with the Moncton Wildcats during the 2024-25 season. He was acquired by Trenton mid-season that year and immediately contributed to a championship run, posting 10 points (4G-6A) in 19 playoff games as the Golden Hawks captured the OJHL title and advanced to the Centennial Cup.

Prior to his QMJHL and OJHL stops, Shantz developed with the Elmira Sugar Kings of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, where he put up 17 points in 44 games during the 2023-24 season and added three more in the playoffs.

“I’m looking forward to getting started and bringing some exciting hockey to the fans in Powell River,” said Shantz.

Shantz joins a Kings organization focused on building a competitive, character-driven roster capable of contending in the BCHL Coastal Conference. His combination of physical tools, playmaking ability, and proven production in multiple junior leagues makes him an intriguing addition as the team continues to reshape its forward group for the upcoming season.

Welcome to the Kings family, Isaiah.
