Sam Schoenfeld commits to MSOE

The Kings are proud to announce that defenseman Sam Schoenfeld has committed to play NCAA division III hockey at the Milwaukee School of Engineering next season.

The 20 year old defenseman joined the Kings for his final junior season this past year after spending the previous three seasons in his home province of Alberta. He was a stable veteran presence on the blue line, a leader in the locker room and was an assistant captain this season.

Despite only playing in a limited amount of games due to injury, head coach Brock Sawyer is very proud of what he brought to the team and what he was able to accomplish. “We are very happy for Sam and his family” says Sawyer “Probably not a storybook 20 year old year with a couple injuries but he was a big addition to our team. He came in with a great attitude, and was a fine young man who brought a lot to our program on and off the ice.”

Schoenfeld played in 155 career junior games between the BCHL and AJHL with 36 of those being with the Kings where he added 3 goals and 7 assists. “It was a big change from Camrose and the AJHL but I don’t regret making that jump, Powell River was beautiful and the change in the league and gameplay grew my game.” Sam says “I’m beyond excited to get things going at MSOE and I’m thrilled to be pursuing post secondary with the chance to play hockey at a high level as well.”

We would like to thank Sam for all his contributions as a King and wish him all the best at MSOE.
