Series even at one apiece

Kings lost their first game to Victoria this year and it came in the second game of the playoffs with a 4-3 double overtime final.

The Grizzlies bounced back from a opening series loss to score the first goal and the last in a tight battle at Hap Parker Arena.

Both Garteig and Ginn were solid in their respective nets throughout the game and each had a shutout going after the first twenty minutes.

Grizzlies opening the scoring when Morely scored on a rebound at 3:11 of the second but Jon Jutzi tied it at 1-1 on the powerplay.

Grizzlies again scored during a delayed penalty call to the Kings but once again lost the lead on a successful penalty shot from Niddery.

Niddery used a backhand deke and after moving Ginn to his left, swept the puck in on the forehand.

The 2-2 tie lasted until 10:37 of the third when Dustin Johnson completed a nice passing play from the slot.

Kings took just two minutes to even the score again at 3-3 when Brendan Hawryluk flipped an nice pass on the two on one to Bardarson who buried it down low with the one timer.

Regulation ended in a 3-3 tie and in the first overtime Victoria came out strong looking to end it early. Kings called a timeout but couldn't reverse the tied until the midway point when they began to take it to the Grizzlies. Neither team could beat the other goaltender so on we went to the 2nd overtime.

An errant pass by a Grizzly changed direction and went to Evan Richardson in the slot who caught Garteig leaning the wrong way. His goal made the final 4-3 and evened the series which now goes to Victoria for games three and four on Friday and Saturday respectively.

Shots on goal – Kings 42 Grizzlies 36.
