Summer Reflections – Sean Maguire

Powell River held its' annual Sea Fair this past weekend. The Kings were proud to join Louise Williams of Dominion Lending on her float along with 'Don Cherry' (well, a Don Cherry look-a-like anyway!).

Locals were excited to see Powell River's own Sean Maguire part of the festivities.

A few questions for Sean and his local summer adventures:

What are you doing for work this summer?

This summer I am working for Quality Foods here locally.

August’s Main Camp will be here sooner than you know it. What are you doing to stay in shape for next season?

Im am going to the gym every time I have a break from work which is about 4-3 times a week. I also make trips down to Vancouver for whole weeks at a time to train on the ice with Jeff Battah our Goalie Coach. I am about to make a trip down to Victoria with Bo Lewis to train with Jason Yee at Jeff Compton's training facility.

Everyone deserves a break. What are you plans for vacationing this summer?

Well every time I take a trip down to vancouver to train I like to make a trip out of it too, like going shopping and enjoying what the city has to offer.

What are your favourite summer traditions?

My family doesn't really have any traditions, but pretty much every summer once or twice my family and some friends head over to Savary Island for the day.

Powell River is one of the best places to be during the summer. What is the best part about living here during these hot summer months from a local's perspective?

I really enjoy Powell lake! It's the best place to go on a hot day. Of course all of my friends I get to spend time with, seeing as I dont have much time during the season to hang out with them.
