Third Clean Sheet for Adamyk, Kings win 4-0

For the third time this season, and second against Cowichan, Mitch Adamyk was perfect and steered the Kings to a 4-0 decision against the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Tuesday night in Duncan.

A near textbook first period for the Kings on the road in Duncan for the 6th game of the season series between the Kings and Capitals. After a slow start with several early whistles stalling play due to icing, offside or hand passes, the Kings took control of the game with the first goal. Josh Coblenz crashed the net from the right side and made a nice move on Jack Grant, but was denied by a reaching back paddle save, only for Ethan Kimball to bury a loose puck for his 2nd of the year and a 1-0 lead.

The Kings would go to their first powerplay of the game about 5 minutes later, and just 20 seconds into the advantage, Jayden Lee shot a puck through traffic in front, his 3rd of the season and a 2-0 advantage through 20. Shots 8-5 Powell River.

Cowichan responded with pressure in the second period, bolstered by extended powerplay time, including back to back five on three powerplays but were unable to find a goal thanks to solid penalty killing from the Kings. Shots 16-7 Capitals.

The third saw Cowichan begin to unravel and cut a rut to the penalty box. These penalties set the Kings up to almost 5 minutes of 5-on-3 time with back to back minors, double minors, a major and a bench minor. The Kings converted and put the game beyond reach through Ryan Brushett one-timing from the left faceoff circle, then Christian Buono sniping from the side of the goal after hustle in the slot from Ethan Kimball as the Kings skated away to a 4-0 win.

Mitch Adamyk earns his 13th win of the season, and third shutout with 30 saves. It’s his 2nd shutout against Cowichan this year, and has played 126:39 of shutout hockey against Cowichan. Also, Adamyk is 4-0 in his last 4 starts, a 0.75 goals against average and a .974 save percentage.
