The Kings are excited to announce that forward Anthony Yu has committed to play NCAA hockey at Air Force.
“My family and I are super excited and humbled for my future at the Air Force Academy” says Yu “From the minute I stepped on campus it felt like home and solidified everything they have to offer on and office the ice. With the mixture of high level hockey, success in their division, and academics, it was a very easy decision to make.”
Yu is coming off a very impressive rookie campaign finishing second on the team in goals with 17 and fourth in points with 39 on route to winning the teams rookie of the year award. He would also win the fan favourite award as he captured the hearts of many fans with his impeccable scoring ability and enthusiastic goal celebrations.
“We are very excited for Anthony and his family” says head coach Brock Sawyer “He came with a goal of achieving a commitment to play at the next level in division 1, and he has reached his goal after a successful rookie season. We are proud of him for his accomplishments and cannot wait to see him perform this season and beyond at Air Force.”
Yu becomes the second current King that is set to play for the Falcons in the future. His long time friend Will Jones committed there last season and did play a role in helping Yu make the decision to commit. “It was a plus having Will Jones already committed there and he had a huge part in educating me about the school” adds Yu “I can’t thank my parents, teammates, and coaches enough. I am extremely excited for what’s to come but for now, the main focus is getting back to Powell River and having a great season.”
