Kings lose a tough one 6-5

Kings almost pulled it off but lost another game in the late stages 6-5.

Before the game Kings and their fans remembered Don Smisko, a truly dedicated volunteer, who passed away recently.

Smisko spent a ton of hours in the time keeper's box, is a King's society member and also gave generously to fundraising events including their most recent giant raffle. King's thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Don.

Kings got off to a shakey start with a soft goal scored on them at 3:54 but they bounced right back 16 seconds later when Robin tied it 1-1

Kings went up 2-1 on Dupont's goal but the Backs evened it 2-2 at 7:14.

Incredibly no more goals until 16:43 when Hiff finished off a nice passing play on the powerplay and then Matt Scarth deflected in a point shot, also on the powerplay, to give the Kings a nice 4-2 lead after one period.

Villeneuve made it 5-2, again on the powerplay, at 9:19 of the second period but the Backs got one back with just 2 seconds to go in the period.

The Backs needed this game desperately and showed it in the third with a huge effort to score two goals to tie the game and then one in the first overtime to win 6-5.

Another tough loss for the Kings who now just have one game remaining in their schedule before the best of five series against Victoria.
