Kings nipped by the Clippers 4-3

Nanaimo got the jump on the Kings and held on for a 4-3 win on Friday night at Hap Parker Arena.

Clippers scored first on a deflection from the point that Jeff Smith had no chance on at 3:53.

Kings evened the score 1-1 when Jordan Burns got two chances on the net, the first one went high and over it but the second found Argue's pads and then Lukosevicius buried the rebound at 9:42.

That powerplay goal was matched by the Clippers late in the period on another point shot that was batted around in the crease and finally put home by Bo Brauer at 19:34.

Nanaimo went up 3-1 early in the second on the second of two, two on one plays.

Rempal's pass got by Aidan Wright and Morgan's shot eluded Smith in the net at 1:04.

Clippers made it 4-1 at 6:39 after a King giveaway deep in their own zone and Brauer grabbed the puck, whirled and fired in high to beat Smith glove side.

Jonah Imoo took Smith's place after that goal and Kings went to work to get back in the game.

Powell River call-up and Fortis Energy Player of the Game, Hunter Findlater, excited the crowd when he chipped the puck off the boards to himself and raced in on a partial breakaway. He was slashed on the play but nearly tucked the puck in on Argue.

Kings did draw to within 4-2 on the ensuing powerplay when Drew Dorantes one timed a nice set up from Scarfo and Coleshaw.

Down 4-2 heading into the final period Nanaimo held off the Kings until 12:42 when Jarryd Leung got to a loose puck inside the Clip's blueline and let a quick wrist shot go that surprised Argue and hit the top of the net.

Kings had a ton of pressure on Clippers for the remainder of the game but weren't able to get the tying goal.

End result was a 4-3 loss for the Kings but a chance for redemption at 5:00 P.M. on Saturday afternoon.
