Kings pick up former Capitals’ Captain Brendon MacDonald

Powell River, BCJanuary 10, 2012 –The Powell River Kings have acquired forward Brendon MacDonald from the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

With a vacant 20-year old spot available, the Kings have signed former Capital captain Brendon MacDonald, who was released by the club last week.

MacDonald was in his 3rd year with the Caps, and had played in 143 games for the Cowichan side, scoring 11 times and adding 24 assists. He also tallied 315 penalty minutes during his time with the Capitals.

This season, MacDonald played 26 times for the Caps, scoring once and adding 65 penalty minutes. The Capitals released their captain last week and placed him on their reserve roster.

“I know that Powell River is an awesome organization and I’m very happy to be here”, mentioned MacDonald, who will be in the lineup this weekend for the Kings. “Powell River has always been a winning team, and hopefully I can add to that.”

“I feel Brendon is a quality kid who will be good in the dressing room”, noted Kings Head Coach and GM, Kent Lewis. “He’ll bring grit, moxie and leadership to our forward unit. He’s happy to be here and we’re happy to have him on the roster.”

The first game in a Kings uniform for Brendon, will be this Friday night against the Surrey Eagles at the Hap Parker Arena.
