Kings post another shutout over Langley 3-0

Not to be outdone by his counterpart, Jamie Phillips, Sean Maguire posted his first shutout of the season, winning 3-0 over the Langley Rivermen.

This game started out much like last nights, in that the two teams skated to a scoreless tie after the first period.

Kings looked a little lethargic in the early going but got going late in the second period and as a result scored the first goal of the game at 3:16.

Luke Laszkiewicz got his first as a Kings off the hard work of Brenden Forbes who caused a turnover. Laszkiewicz whirled around in the slot and slid the puck along the ice under the goaltender.

It stayed 1-0 for another 25 minutes when Teagan Waugh eased some of the tension of the one goal lead.

He grabbed a puck just outside the Kings' blueline and raced down the win and cut for the net to deke Jim Kruger and beat him high.

The two goal lead looked like it would be enough but just for good measure Cohen Adair salted the game when he parked a big rebound off the shot of Darymple high in the net.

After the game Brenden Forbes explained the slow start saying, "we were out late last night with our parents."

"Kind of 5-0 victory hangover," he smiled, "but once we woke up I thought we played well."

The strong play of the forwards and defense were instrumental in giving Maguire the opportunity for a shutout.

"It felt good," he said, "the boys played exceptionally well today."

"The second was pretty slow," he recalled, "but the third got a little tight there and they got some really good chances but we kept them out."

He likes the positive signs shown by the Kings early in the season.

"I'm pretty excited and the atmosphere is great right now and it couldn't get much better than zero goals against this weekend."
