Kings win 3-2 in double OT

In the absence of eight regulars Kings got a huge effort from the remaining roster and the affiliate players who came in to help.

Jonah Imoo, Luke Ripley, Jordan Burns, Jeremy Leclerc, Kurt Keats and Jarid Lukosevicius were in Calgary while Matt Scarth and Kyle Chatham watched from the sidelines.

Jake Calverley, Gage Colpron, Garrett Dunlop, Nick Tupper and Garrett Brandsma took regular shifts and not only did they step up but they stepped into a bunch of Grizzlies throughout the game.

Kings got the start they wanted when, in the Victoria zone on the draw, Dunlop got the puck back to Aidan Wright who took a shot through traffic and the puck slid into the lower righthand corner at 3:15.

It stayed that way until the Kings got their second slap pass from Leung to Hiff whose shot was saved but the rebound went to Nogard who banged it in at 4:39.

Kings looked to be very comfortable with the lead and were taking care of the pucks and the loose battles for them when Myles Fitzgerald got the Grizzlies on the board.

He was left all alone in Smith's crease and made no mistake in beating the Powell River goalie at 8:58.

Kings didn't panic but did get into penalty trouble later in the period when Coleshaw was called for interference at 11:05 and then Luke Nogard hit Egli high and received a five minute major and a game misconduct.

Victoria went to work and got the equalizer at 12:44 from Cole Pickup which sent this game to overtime.

Teams went back and forth in the first overtime with four shots each and no goals.

In the second overtime on the very first shift it was Dorantes, Scarfo and Wright up against two Fitzgeralds and Schwartz.

Victoria took possession off the faceoff but lost the puck at he King's blueline and Wright jumped on it to bounce it off the boards at centre to Dorantes.

He caught up to it at the Griz blueline and cut to the net, held on until the goalie committed then tucked it in on the far side.

3-2 Kings in double overtime!!

Quite a celebration and well deserved for the hardworking team who put in a huge effort for the win.

"We played a good three on three," said Kent Lewis later.

"We had our men, nice chip by Wrighter who had a great game tonight," he said, "and Drew – great finish."

"I thought he and Scarfo got stronger as the game went on and took control of the game and neutralized them a few times."
