Saturday set to be a big night!

This coming Saturday night is sure to be a great one at The Hap Parker Arena!

The Kings will face off against the Vernon Vipers for the first time since the Fred Page Cup last April.

Coach and GM Kent Lewis has been working the Kings hard in practice all week preparing them for the big night. "Everybody talks about rivals and after 3 years in the Fred Page Cup against Vernon they are definitely ours. We are in a tight race in our standings and right now Vernon is out of a playoff spot and are looking to win. It's set up to be a great game."

Prior to puck drop, there will be a celebration for Joe Mastrodonato highlighting his hard work, vision, dedication and passion for the team. Joe was instrumental in bringing the team to Powell River originally back in 1988 and has not stopped contributing to the success of the program on and off the ice ever since.

A number of alumni are making the trek to Powell River to join in on the celebrations. Of course, there is also the 'retro surprise' in store that has been creating a buzz around town. What will it be?

The First Insurance team invites the first 500 fans to pick up a horn in the foyer! Hector the Protector and the First Insurance team will be celebrating the 'Read Program' by giving away grand prizes to 3 lucky 'Reading Heroes' from grade schools across Powell River. First Insurance will also be giving away an iPod to a student who is wearing the best costume highlighting their favourite character from a book.

The puck drops Saturday at 7:30pm.
