Adair’s Record Breaking Pace

Good news Kings fans! Kings forward Cohen Adair is on record-breaking pace to SHATTER the league’s record for shorthanded goals in a single season. For those trivia buffs out there, the current record is 14 by Greg Hadden of New Westminster in the 88-89 season. Adair has 4 shorties already this year, in 2 games (he didn’t score in the first game).

So, with that math, Cohen can be expected to notch four shorthanded tallies every 2 games, for a total of 118 shorties. This tally would also break the all-time BCHL scoring record, set by Brett Hull in the 83-84 season. Go Cohen Go!!!

Ok, let’s be serious. Expecting Cohen to notch 2 shorties a game is a little unreasonable…however he’s made a pretty good start. Last year, the Kings scored 10 goals down a man, with Matt Garbowsky leading the way with 4 in 56 games. Here’s a further look at some historical numbers (as far back as I could go on the BCHL’s web site):
