Camp Day 1, Interviews with Hiff and LeClerc

Day 1 of Powell River Kings main camp is in the books. Both teams held an hour or so practice session last night. The rest of the camp will involve game action to see how the players stack up in real-world scenarios.

It’s also training camp for broadcasters, getting back in the habit of interviewing players. I had a chance to catch up with returning King Stephen Hiff after his practice session last night, and we chatted about his off-season, his goals for this year and what he thought of the first ice session of the year.

Rookie defenceman Jeremy LeClerc is at Kings camp for the first time. The Saskatoon product signed during the off-season and was able to guide his Saskatoon Contacts to a spot in the National Major Midget Championships, the Telus Cup. We chatted about that, as well as making the jump to junior.

Camp continues tonight, 7pm at the Hap for a Green vs White game. It’s free for the public to attend.
