Hiff Commits to Kings

The Kings have begun the process of building next year’s team, with the commitment of forward Stephen Hiff. Hiff, a 94-born forward, played this past season with the Notre Dame Argos Midget AAA (the same team that the Alberni Valley Bulldogs recruited Evan Tironese and Ryan Lough), recording 23 points in 26 games. He also spent time with Notre Dame in the SJHL, recording a goal and 4 points in 5 playoff games.

Here’s the release from the Kings:

Powell River, BCApril 13, 2012 – The Powell River Kings are excited to welcome forward Stephen Hiff to the team’s line-up for the upcoming 2012-2013 season.

Hailing from Hespeler, Ontario, Stephen is the fourth of six boys in a family whose history has long been rooted in the Canadian hockey tradition. Born in 1994, Stephen grew up at the rink playing for the Cambridge Hawks and then in grade 9 moved to Wilcox, Saskatchewan to attend high school and play for the Notre Dame Hounds.

GM and head coach Kent Lewis is looking forward to having Hiff in the roster next September. “Stephen is not just a good player, but he also has the character that fits into the model of a Powell River King. He is a dedicated player who we have been following all year and are happy to have him with our club.”

As for Hiff’s talents on the ice, Lewist notes, “He is a player that can play in both ends of the rink. He has great offensive skills and is gritty.”

In joining the Kings’ program, Stephen is looking forward to continuing to develop his skills as he looks towards his future. “I know that Kent Lewis and the rest of the Kings’ coaching staff are going to help me develop as much as I can as a player. My goal is to get an NCAA scholarship and I believe that my time as a Powell River King will enable me to reach this goal.”

Stephen Hiff will be arriving in Powell River and ready to hit the ice for the Kings’ Main Camp in August.
