How To Follow Your Kings This Season

It’s just a matter of days before the 2012/2013 season opens in Chilliwack. Training camp is over, all the players are in town and have begun practices, exhibition games have finished and all focus now turns to game 1 on Friday September 7th against the Surrey Eagles at the BCHL Showcase.

For those who are family members or friends of new Kings this year, welcome. For those who are new fans, or old fans, welcome and welcome back! No doubt this is going to be another fantastic year for the team, and it’s my job to keep you 100% updated, and in some cases, inundated with information on the team. Here’s how you can follow the team anywhere, everywhere at any time.

The Blog
The number 1 way to keep tabs on the Kings is right here. Everything from game reports, previews, features, interviews and news snippets will be right here on the blog. Official team news will also be up here as soon as the team releases it, and that is things like trades, commitments, events, etc. Don’t want to have to come to this page every day? Then don’t, have the news come to you!

On the bottom right hand corner of the screen, you should see a small grey tab with ‘follow’ in it. Click that, put your email address in there and all the new posts throughout the season will come to your email inbox directly! We average about 5-10 new posts per week, depending on number of games played, features posted, etc.

The Broadcast
The Kings are very proud to once again be able to broadcast live on 95.7 SunFM this season. Every single Kings home or road regular season game, plus playoffs will be available live on the radio in Powell River. The signal stretches from Lund to Madeira Park on the Sechelt Peninsula. It is also available live online through the station’s web site. On the go? Not at home? Live out of Powell River? No problem! The station is also available on several free smartphone apps. I recommend TuneIn Radio, which is available for every major smartphone platform.

Also, new this year, is FastHockey. A PPV video service, fans will be able to watch the Kings in every game this year, home and away. While there’s nothing better than being at the rink, if you live out of town, this is the next best thing. For those who ordered PPV last year and were left disappointed, this is a new company with an excellent track record and history with major events, and have worked with Hockey Canada for many years. Best of all, fans can choose from either the home or road broadcast, meaning that if the Kings are on the road, you can choose to listen to a Kings broadcast, or the home team’s broadcast, or switch between the two. You can order games, and find out more information by going to Fast Hockey’s website.

Social Media
The Kings have put a lot of focus on great social media. Photos, interviews, news, information all filtered through our Facebook and Twitter accounts. For those of you on social media, you can follow the following:

Official Kings Facebook Page
Official Kings Twitter Feed
Alex Rawnsley’s (voice of the Kings) Twitter Feed

Even if you don’t have Twitter, you can still follow along. Head to either of the links above and you can still view all the live tweets as they happen. We’re aiming to live-tweet more games this season, however lots of information will be available there prior to games to get you set for the action.

The Kings Network (TKN)
Brand new this year is a rebrand of our YouTube channel. Still under some development, the Kings will be looking at providing more video content than ever before. Each week, look for The Week That Was, which is a video recap show featuring highlights, news and interviews from the Kings Kingdom during the last set of seven. We’ll also have some game preview videos, as well as other interviews throughout the season.

You can view the last season of The Week That Was by heading to the Kings Youtube Channel.

Kings Official Web Site
If that’s not enough, photos and official team news is available on the Kings web site. While it will also filter through to the blog and social media, you can hear about trades and player commitments first on the Kings site.

If you have any feedback, questions, comments, concerns or anything about our coverage of the team, please get in touch with me at any point throughout the season by emailing kingsbroadcast@gmail.com
