Imoo Steals Show, Kings Win 5-0

Jonah Imoo had his toughest test to date in a Powell River net, and performed perfectly, kicking aside 35 Nanaimo shots for his 3rd shutout in 7 starts, and a 5-0 Kings win to close out the 2011/2012 Regular Season.

The scoring got going early in this one, from an unlikely source. AP callup Jackson Garrett took advantage of a clumsy clearing attempt from the Clippers to score his 1st as a King, taking it from the side of the net and around out in front of Billy Faust for a 1-0 lead. 4 minutes from the end of the opening frame, Jon Jutzi on the powerplay would slap hom his 11th of the year, after the Kings worked it around quickly off a faceoff and a 2-0 lead. Shots after 1 favoured Powell River 14-10.

Into the 2nd and 3 goals put the game out of reach for Nanaimo. Under 6 minutes in, Teal Burns found Jackson Garrett alone in front and hit the outstretched stick perfectly. Garrett deflecting home his 2nd of the game and the game was 3-0. Then at 13:45, Evan Richardson showed some nice hands and was allowed to walk in and snipe his 19th for a 4-0 lead. Then 30 seconds later, Matthew Scarth did something similar, skating in and finding the top corner for a 5-0 game.

Imoo did the rest, making some fantastic saves, some on 2nd and 3rd chances for the Kings. Imoo finishes 1st among all goaltenders in goals against average, and save percentage, and in just 7 starts (8 overall appearences), he finishes tied for 4th in the BCHL in shutouts (3).
