Kings answer with a 5-2 win

Friday night's loss was a difficult one for the Kings but they came out to avenge it and did so with a convincing 5-2 win.

They looked the hungrier team from the get-go and reeled off five straight goals before giving up a couple to the Clippers late in the game.

Chances were plenty with Matt Joyaux getting the first one in the slot but just not getting all of it and he drove it wide.

Another high shot went off the back glass and came out to the front where Nanaimo's Rygus went to glove it and almost put it in his own net.

Scarth got the ball rolling for good when he scooped up a rebound off the end boards and drilled it in at 11:28.

Just over a minute later J.P. Villeneuve crossed the blueline into the high slot and wired a wrist shot glove side high to make it 2-0.

Kings got the only goal of the second period and before the faceoff someone near me said Richardson was quiet tonight and -boom- he immediately responded with a nice effort off the faceoff and ripped a shot low at 6:51.

Villeneuve added his second in third when he missed on a wrap-around but grabbed the rebound and shot it by Argue at 1:31.

Kings poured the pressure on with the line of Scarth, Richardson and Hiff all getting into the action and finally Hiff patiently lifted the puck top glove to give his club a commanding 5-0 lead at 8:44.

Unfortunately Kings got a little sloppy after that and the Clippers scored on the powerplay at 11:05 and then again when Brenden Forbes scored just at the expiration of a Kings' penalty to make the final 5-2.

This game was a classic one that carried over some feelings from the night before.

Luke Ripley and Kyle Kramer continued to hammer each other throughout the game and after the game Ripley smiled broadly as he commented on the second game.

"I had matchups to win and I lost that yesterday," said Ripley, "and you want to come back with emotion and try to get in their heads and I thought I did tonight."

He laughed when he was reminded of the two sticks he flipped out of the hands of opposing players.

"I only meant to do that once."

"The first time was missed when the ref wasn't looking and the second time was an accident," he smiled.

Of the physical nature of the games he said, "that's the most fun way to play."

All in all a couple of fun games for the fans and a nice response from the Kings on Saturday.

Bye the way, the beef dip and chile was fantastic before the game and thanks goes out to Dominion Lending for that.
