Kings look strong in win over Surrey

Other than the 4-1 final score, there was lots to be happy about on Friday night.

King's last shift was even stronger than their first, they went 2 for 6 on the powerplay and they forced a lot of the play in the opponents end of the ice.

Game started in similar fashion to Merritt last week when Aidan Wright opened the scoring with a blast from the point on the powerplay.

His goal at 18:14 was followed by the King's second when Jarid Lukosevicius chased a puck behind the Eagle's net and hit McCarrick with a pass in the slot and he wired it at 19:16.

Up 2-0 after one, King's Lukosevicius got his first of two on the night when Kurt Keats took a tour with the puck on the powerplay and drifted a shot at the net. It was saved but the rebound was put in by the ever present Luko and he had 23rd goal of the year.

Eagles had their moments throughout the game but Smith was sharp in the net and beaten just the one time.
That came at 9:53 of the middle frame when a rebound after a save was put in by Davidson to make it 3-1.

Surrey never got closer than that however, as the Kings continued to work hard and maintain their focus.

They were still getting some great chances but didn't capitalize until 18:30 when Keats went down the left wing and hit Lukosevicius with a perfect backdoor pass. The King's top goal scorer finished the scoring with a tap in from close range and his team celebrated a very convincing win over the Eagles.

Following the big Alumni game tomorrow, Kings host the Cowichan Valley Capitals who pulled out a big 7-2 win over the Clippers at home.
